The ESV develops efficient financial management for central government agencies, and analyses and makes forecasts of central government finances. The ESV is a central administrative agency under the Ministry of Finance.

We make financial management an example to be followed by other sectors and other countries. Our workWe develop financial management. This is the method used by government for the management and control of govermnment agencies. We develop accounting rules and issue regulations and general guidance. Each year we make a financial management rating of all government agencies. In the rating we assess how well the agencies live up to the requirements stipulated in the accounting rules. The ESV is also responsible for generally accepted accounting principles in central government and is responsible for the development and administration of the central government accounting system, Hermes. We offer government agencies cost-efficient administrative systems support for their business systems and human resource systems. To do this we conclude framework agreements with various suppliers. The ESV also produces and analyses information on central government finances.We make regular estimates of the outcome of the government budget and publish four budget forecasts each year. In our forecasts we calculate, among other things, government expenditure in relation to the ceiling on expenditure and the budget balance. Our ambition is to identify any risks We run extensive training, support and consulting activities in our operational areas. These activities are directed towards both government agencies and the Government Offices. The ESV is located in Stockholm and has some 160 employees. |
